The Senate
The Senate is made up of 100 Senators, two from each state, and each is elected to 6 year terms with no term limitations. The senate is also divided into committees and subcommittees with oversight over many different areas including but not limited to Agriculture, Budgeting and Transportation.
Leadership
-President of the Senate The President of the Senate is the Vice-President but the only time he is ever needed is when there is a perfect tie. -Majority Leader The Majority Leader is the main individual who coordinates with the members of the leadership team on policy. -Minority Leader The Minority Leader also coordinates with his party leadership and staff but he has the more difficult task of convincing people not aligned with his party to support their policies. -President Pro Tempore The oldest Senator in the majority party,and also this position is in the line of succession for the Presidency. -Salary and benefits are the same as Representatives the only difference is the length for which they receive them. |
