The President of the United States
The President of the United States's role in our democracy is defined by the Constitution in Article 2 Section 1 which states that "The executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America. He shall hold his Office during the Term of four Years, and, together with the Vice President, chosen for the same Term, be elected[.]"
Role in Government
-The President has a number of different roles to fulfill these roles are listed below. -Chief of State This part of the presidents responsibilities is his public relations with the American people. A simplified way to explain this role would be to say this is his way of being a celebrity. -Chief Executive The position of Chief Executive is similar to being the CEO of the government, he manages certain job appointments and other functions of running the government -Chief of Party As the Chief of Party the President is the spokesperson for his party and assists them in campaigning and with fund raising opportunities. -Chief Diplomat AS Chief Diplomat the president makes many foreign policy decision and also welcomes ambassadors to our great nation. -Chief Legislator The role of Chief Legislator is performed by the President in that he has the ability to Veto any bill that comes his way and also to shape policy through negotiations with congress -Commander-in-Chief As Commander-in-Chief of the military, the President has the capability to send troops into harms way and to make executive decision regarding life or death situations involving our nation throughout the world. |

The Vice-President of the United States
The Vice-President of the United States serves a very minimal role in the government, he is the President of the Senate and an adviser to the President, but other than this he is just a backup President.
Salary and Benefits -the Vice-President makes $221,000 annually with comprehensive health benefits. -the VP also is protected by the Secret Service and is allowed to live in the Vice-Presidential residence at Number One Observatory Circle in northwestern Washington, D.C. |
